Gaithersburg, MD — December 30, 2013 — Glory Days Grill hosted its 26th annual golf tournament on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Piedmont Club in Haymarket, Virginia. The annual tournament raised $54,039 which is a new record in the tournament’s 25 year history and represents a 4% increase in funds raised year over year. $33,500 has been designated for the tournament's main beneficiary, The Sunshine Foundation, and Glory Days Grill will make an additional $20,539 in contributions to a variety of local charities and foundations in the Washington-Baltimore corridor. This past year’s local charities included the following: Jill’s House; Arundel House of Hope ; Heroes, Inc.; Lorton Community Action Center; Life with Cancer; and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
Over the past nine years, more than $356,000 has been raised by this annual golf tournament. During its 18 year history, Glory Days Grill has been recognized for a variety of charitable contributions and fundraising efforts and, most recently, was honored with the 2013 McCormick Cornerstone Award from the Restaurant Association of Maryland as well as a six time winner of the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Neighbor Award.
Founded in Fairfax, VA in 1996, Glory Days Grill is a sports-themed family restaurant featuring great food, outstanding service and real-time entertainment. Every restaurant brings together an award-winning menu with an abundance of televisions tuned to sports, cartoons, news and entertainment with individual speaker stations at each table. Glory Days Grill has been named Best Sports Bar, Best Casual Theme and Best American Restaurant, along with receiving accolades for Best Ribs, Best Chili and Best Burger. The restaurant company currently owns and operates 18 corporate locations in the tri-state area comprising Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia plus the 2 franchised restaurants in Richmond, VA and one FANFARE Eatery located in Fairfax Corner, VA. The Sunshine Foundation is the original wish granting organization founded in 1976 by former Philadelphia police officer, Bill Sample. Sunshine Foundation's sole purpose is to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to eighteen, whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child's illness may cause.
