Annual Glory Days Grill Golf Tournament Raises $53,635

Proceeds benefit the Sunshine Foundation for Chronically Ill Children and other charitable organizations.


Gaithersburg, MD — December 8, 2014 — Glory Days Grill hosted its 27th annual golf tournament on Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Piedmont Club in Haymarket, Virginia. The annual tournament raised $53,635 of which $33,500 has been designated for the tournament's main beneficiary, The Sunshine Foundation, Glory Days Grill will make an additional $20,135 in contributions to a variety of local charities and foundations in the Washington-Baltimore corridor.  Past recipients include local charities such as: Jill’s House; Arundel House of Hope; Heroes, Inc.; Lorton Community Action Center; Life with Cancer; and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Over the past ten years, more than $410,000 has been raised by this annual golf tournament. During its 19 year history, Glory Days Grill has been recognized for a variety of charitable contributions and fundraising efforts and was recently honored with SmartCEO’s Circle of Excellence Award which recognizes the region’s most accomplished CEOs for business excellence. In 2014, Glory Days Grill also became a six time winner of the McCormick Cornerstone of the Industry Award from the Restaurant Association of Maryland acknowledging companies that operate as the cornerstone of their communities, through positive job creation, community support and charitable contributions.

The Sunshine Foundation is the original wish granting organization founded in 1976 by former Philadelphia police officer, Bill Sample.  Sunshine Foundation's sole purpose is to answer the dreams of chronically ill, seriously ill, physically challenged and abused children ages three to eighteen, whose families cannot fulfill their requests due to financial strain that the child's illness may cause.
