Gaithersburg, MD — October 9, 2018 — Glory Days Grill is thrilled to announce two major awards received at the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association’s (VRLTA) 2018 Ordinary Awards Dinner on October 2, 2018. Executive Vice President, Gary Cohen, was awarded the Jim Wordsworth Award for Restaurateur of the Year; and Glory Days Grill in Burke, along with Managing Partner Jim Rafferty, was awarded Restaurant of the Year.
Named after the oldest inn in America, called Chinn’s “Ordinary”, the winners of the Ordinary Awards “represent all the extraordinary people and companies that make up Virginia’s hospitality and tourism industry,” said Eric Terry President of the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association. “On behalf of the VRLTA, our staff, and board, we applaud the efforts of these individuals for the exemplary work they have done and will continue to do.”
Gary Cohen’s career encompasses forty years of management in the restaurant and hospitality industry, all in Northern Virginia. Through his personal and professional life, Gary has consistently demonstrated his ability to achieve the highest standards of excellence. He is the consummate professional, yet humble, personable, and modest. Glory Days Grill in Burke, under the leadership of Jim Rafferty, is Glory Days Grill’s first restaurant which opened April 16, 1996. Often referred to as “The Mayor of Burke”, Jim earned this title by integrating himself into the community from his first day in business.
